ReceiptStreet Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 7, 2026
ReceiptStreet helps you split a bill: you scan a receipt, say who had what, and send each person what they owe. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your receipts and the people you add stay on your iPhone. We don't have accounts, we don't run servers that receive your receipts, and we don't track you.
What stays on your iPhone
ReceiptStreet keeps everything you create in the app on your device:
- Receipts: photos of your receipts and the details read from them or typed in, such as the venue, date, items, prices, tax, gratuity and fees.
- People: the names you add, and a Venmo username for a person if you enter one.
- Your profile: the name you enter so you're added to every receipt.
We can't see any of this, and we don't receive a copy. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, this information is included in that backup, under Apple's terms and your backup settings.
How the app uses your iPhone's features
ReceiptStreet only uses these when you choose to:
- Camera: to scan a receipt.
- Photos: to open a receipt photo you pick, and to save receipt images to your library when you ask. When you choose a photo, the app only gets that photo, not your library.
- Contacts: to add someone from your contacts. The app only gets the name of the person you pick, not your contact list.
- Share sheet: to bring a receipt photo into ReceiptStreet from another app, or to send someone a picture of their share.
Reading the text on a receipt happens on your iPhone, using Apple's built-in text recognition. The photo isn't sent anywhere to be read.
When information leaves your iPhone
Only in these cases, and only with the information described:
- Apple Maps: an address printed on a receipt is shared with Apple Maps, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Venmo requests: when you tap Request on Venmo, ReceiptStreet opens Venmo (the app, or venmo.com if the app isn't installed) with the person's Venmo username, the amount, and a note with the venue name. Nothing is sent until you confirm it in Venmo, and Venmo's privacy policy applies from there.
- Sharing: when you share a picture of someone's share, it goes wherever you choose to send it.
What we don't do
- We don't collect, sell or share your personal information.
- We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking.
- We don't require an account or sign-in.
Information about other people
When you add people to a receipt, you're entering their names, and sometimes their Venmo usernames. This stays on your iPhone and is only used to work out and share what each person owes. Please only add information you're comfortable keeping on your device.
Deleting your information
You can delete any receipt or person in the app, and change your profile at any time in Settings. Deleting ReceiptStreet removes everything it stored on your iPhone.
Children
ReceiptStreet isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes how it handles information, for example if accounts or syncing are added, we'll update this policy and the effective date above before that change is released.
